Yes. There's no reason for a BIOS to greatly slower than a 
native driver for "forward only" levels 1 and 2. But, since BIOS 
transfers are limited to 127 sectors, there will be SOME speed 
reduction due to per-transfer overhead.

However, the BIOS's inability to transfer more than 127 sectors 
is a SIGNIFICANT performance liability for any levels which 
repeat work on the same region, which is all levels above 2.

Yes. The DTL's 32,768 transfer sectors is SpinRite's MAXIMUM 
transfer size. The RTA's screen shows the CURRENT transfer size, 
which will vary depending upon a number of factors. For example, 
it will transfer 1,024 sectors at a time for the "forward only" 
levels 1 and 2. But since 1,024 sectors will be a significant 
impedance for any levels higher than 2, it will transfer at 
32,768 sectors for levels 3, 4 & 5. And during any data recovery 
work, transfers will drop to 1. So the RTA's screen is 
inherently dynamic. :)
